The Chair of Sociology of Africa is developing a new focus in interdisciplinary peace and conflict research at the University of Bayreuth. As a member of an association dealing with struggles over meaning and their impact on conflicts, the chair is involved in the founding of a regional centre for peace and conflict research in Bavaria. In addition, the Chair is a partner in a new competence network that investigates colonially shaped power structures in conflicts and peace efforts. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding both projects for four years from April 2022.
