05.10.2022
Currently, the first meeting of the "Think Lab" of the competence network "Postcolonial Hierarchies in Peace & Conflict" is taking place in Freiburg. From October 4 - 6, 2022, this first Think Lab's main agenda is discussing the core concepts of the network (postcolonial hierarchies). From the Chair for Sociology of Africa, Prof. Dr. Jana Hönke, Dr. Maria Ketzmerick (with an active moderating role) and Dr. Adam Sandor, who are researching in the project project "Postcolonial Hierarchies in Peace and Conflict" will be represented here. In addition, Prof. Dr. Joël Glasman and Darja Wolfmeier (Professorship for African History) will participate from the Bayreuth researchers of the project.
The network "Postcolonial Hierarchies in Peace & Conflict" is a joint project of the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (Freiburg), the University of Bayreuth, the University of Erfurt and the Philipps University of Marburg. It is an interdisciplinary research initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The Think Lab is one of several formats organized by the network for cross-site exchange. The Think Lab addresses and discusses conceptual issues related to postcolonial perspectives in peace and conflict studies. The aim is to open up postcolonial debates from related academic fields such as sociology, cultural and literary studies, and history, but also from relevant interdisciplinary research fields such as subaltern studies and decolonial theory for peace and conflict research.
