Call for Applications - Student Assistant
The chairgroup "Sociology of Africa" (within the research project of Dr. Maria Ketzmerick) has a vacancy for a student assistant starting March 15th 2021 (or April 1st 2021). The employment would be at 40h/month for a total of 3 months (or alternatively 20h/month for a total of 6 months).
The position is situated within the research project "The Anglophone Crisis in Cameroon - Temporalities in Conflict.". The project focuses on the interactions between global and local actors and their narratives on security, violence and threat. In doing so, the project relies on archival material from 1948-1990 (UN documents, petitions, letters) as well as recent articles, interviews, and observations. Much of the material has already been collected.
The student assistant’s tasks include:
- Literature research
- Coding of English and French archival sources and media articles with MAXQDA
- General administrative tasks within the research project
A prerequisite for the application is that the applicant is an advanced bachelor student or already in the master’s program. Due to the linguistic basis of the project data, a very good command of English is a prerequisite and knowledge of French would be an advantage. Marginalized positioned applicants are given preference in hiring.
Please send your application (incl. cover letter, curriculum vitae, overview of academic courses) to Maria Ketzmerick (maria.ketzmerick@uni-bayreuth.de) by February 15th, 2021. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
