26.03.2024
As the inaugural conference of the Italian Association for Africa-China Studies (AISAC) approaches, we are excited to share a glimpse into the event and the participation of our chair members. The conference is scheduled to take place on April 12th at the Museum of Geography of the University of Padua, Italy.
The AISAC Conference aims to create a platform of multidisciplinary dialogue, bringing together researchers from various disciplines including geography, development studies, African and Chinese studies, anthropology, and sociology, political economy and international relations.
In the first panel, titled "State and Non-State Actors", Prof. Dr. Jana Hönke, alongside Dr. Kathy Dodworth (University of Edimburgh), will be presenting on their research "Non-state legitimation as practice: multiplicity and making in Afro-Chinese engagements." Later in the conference, the third panel titled "Everyday (geo)politics" will feature the presentation of INFRAGLOB researcher Yifan Mia Yang, who will be sharing her work "Local content or CSR? Understanding Chinese corporate practices in Guinea."
