In the last session of the Global Sociology and Politics Colloquium, Manuela Boatca from the University of Freiburg will speak about Theorizing Otherwise: Globality, Transnationality, Postcoloniality.
Prof. Dr. Manuela Boatcă is Professor of Sociology with a focus on social structure and globalization at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where she directs the interdisciplinary Master’s program in Global Studies (in cooperation with University of Cape Town, FLACSO Argentina, Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi and Chulalongkorn University Bangkok).
Her work on global inequalities, world-systems analysis, post- and decolonial perspectives, gender in modernity/coloniality, and the geopolitics of knowledge in „Eastern“ Europe and „Latin“ America has appeared in the Journal of World-Systems Research, Cultural Studies, South Atlantic Quarterly, Political Power and Social Theory, Berliner Journal für Soziologie, Österreichische Zeitschrift für Soziologie, Zeitschrift für Weltgeschichte, Theory, Culture and Society, and Current Sociology.
