Über den Film "Khartoum" (in English)
Khartoum follows five individuals whose lives reflect the fate of a city and a country at war: a civil servant, a tea vendor, a motorbike medic, and two street boys. Their stories intertwine in a powerful exploration of freedom, dignity, and survival amid revolution and civil conflict in Sudan.
Originally initiated in 2022 as a documentary project by Sudanese filmmakers in collaboration with a British director and writer, the film evolved in response to the outbreak of war following a military coup. Forced displacement and exile reshaped both the lives of the protagonists and the filmmakers, who continued the project in East Africa. The result is a deeply human and cinematic portrait of resilience, dreams, and loss at a pivotal moment in Sudan’s history.
Triggerwarnung: Der Film behandelt die Themen Krieg und Gewalt.
